Capital Pursuit: The Washington Capitals’ Chase For The Stanley Cup: Conf. Semis Game 6

Posted by representingpuroresu on 05/12/2009

The Stanley Cup playoffs continue for a handful of teams including my hometown Washington Capitals. Click below to read my thoughts on last night’s Eastern Conference Semifinals Game 6 between the Caps and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Here we go again…again! This team just will not die! David Steckel’s OT goal gave the Caps a 5-4 win and forced Game 7, staving off elmiination once again. Hard to believe Washington is now 7-1 in the playoffs under Bruce Boudreau when facing elimination. Although Ovechkin didn’t score last night he did contribute 3 assists and Viktor Kozlov had a goal and an assist. Crosby had the eventual OT-forcing goal for the Pens late in the 3rd as well as an assist. I was hoping Donald Brashear would’ve played last night as his 6-game suspension from the opening round is now over, but he was scratched. His return could be the boost we need if we’re to keep the playoffs going, not to mention his physical style of play could be the difference. Once again it comes down to Game 7, either moving on or facing a disappointing offseason. Caps fans, keep it going-we can’t give up on our team yet! Let’s help put the failures of past playoffs against the Pens behind us! ROCK THE RED!

Game 7 is Wednesday night at Washington. The game will air on Versus in the US (subject to blackout in Washington and Pittsburgh) and CBC in Canada. If the Caps move on they will either go to Boston or host Carolina depending on how that series winds up. Currently it’s a surprising 3-2 Carolina with Game 6 tonight. If Pittsburgh wins Game 7, same as Washington-they’d go to Boston or host Carolina.

  1. Good post. Ovechkin vs. Crosby is unbelievable. As a Pens fan, I fear heartbreak tomorrow. As a matter of fact, I’m asking people in my last post about what was the most devastating loss you watched as a fan. Tough memories eh?
