If you’re a fan of, among perhaps other teams, the Baltimore Orioles and the Atlanta Braves, you know the name Frank Wren. He’s been GM of the Orioles and is currently the Braves GM and shocked quite a few in baseball today when he released 300-game winner Tom Glavine. They claimed it was due to what was best for the team…which allows me to claim groungs for a short-notice rant.

Rant: Sports Must Stop Selling Out To Madison Avenue
Posted by representingpuroresu on 06/02/2009
The past week-plus has really made me sick. Not just physically (as usual) but mentally, and especially with what’s been happening in the NBA, NHL, and more recently MMA. It seems to me that, at least during the postseason, sports isn’t doing what is in the best interest of the fans, but more like the ad execs who annoy us to death because of all the commercials, among other things. And I can’t stand that. Time to rant.

Rant: DREAM Is Becoming A Nightmare For MMA
Posted by representingpuroresu on 04/30/2009
Just when you thought, after this past weekend, MMA couldn’t get more ridiculous with some of the freakshow matches promoters and bookers come up with…it does. Only In Japan. But this is just absurd and could very well set MMA quite a bit back, at least in my eyes. MMA just started juicing…but this rant is guaranteed steroid-free. Assuming caffeine doesn’t count.

Rant: Let MMA Promotions, Not The States, Pick Refs & Judges
Posted by representingpuroresu on 03/09/2009
By most accounts, Saturday’s UFC 96 was pretty good. Fights better than expected, 2 great headlining fights, and 9 of the 10 fights aired on PPV. But we need to look beyond that, as there were 3 examples of just how bad Athletic Commissions have let things get. Bad for fighters, fans, and promoters. That all adds up to a rant.

Rant: The Danny Continues To Hurt DC More Than He Helps It
Posted by representingpuroresu on 02/27/2009
NFL free agent signing season started at 12:01 AM ET this morning. One real big signing so far…and it was perhaps the biggest name in the game, defense-wise, and he went to Washington. Which means…no, not revelation. Rant.

Rant: Boxing & MMA Don’t Mix, Especially Not Now
Posted by representingpuroresu on 02/27/2009
It’s not a new discussion, the combat-sports crossover involving boxing and MMA. It’s been faintly on and off the last couple years, but now it’s on and getting heated again. And not for the best in one particular fan’s eyes. What does that mean? It’s time to rant.

Rant: BJ Penn Needs To Shut Up And Man Up
Posted by representingpuroresu on 02/24/2009
I used to think higher of UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn. But between UFC 94, what happened since and what became known today, I’m in the process of doing quite the 180. Why? Click below…

Rant: Retirement Is Now Nothing More Than A Meaningless Term

At least in sports. Considering the word I mentioned, you probably know who target #1 of this rant is…so let’s do it.
