Capital Pursuit: The Washington Capitals’ Chase For The Stanley Cup: Conf. Semis Game 3

Posted by representingpuroresu on 05/07/2009

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continue for several teams, including my hometown Washington Capitals. Click below to read my thoughts on last night’s Eastern Conference Semifinals Game 3 between the Caps & Pittsburgh Penguins.

As I expected, now it’s a series. The Caps came up just a little short in their efforts to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series, dropping a tough 3-2 OT loss to Pittsburgh that cuts the advantage to 2-1 and ensures the series returns to Washington this weekend. The Caps didn’t play terrible but it may not have been totally their fault-despite being outshot 42-23 there was a big disparity in penalties that worked against them. FIX! Wouldn’t surprise me, you know the NHL wants this one to go 7. But the Caps continue to play well, Ovechkin continues to get help on offense and Varlamov continues to play like a veteran in goal even though he’s a rookie. Hopefully we can win Game 4 then finish the Pens off in front of the hometown crowd Saturday night. Either way, another game to enjoy in this great rivalry.

Game 4 is Friday night in Pittsburgh. Game 5 will be Saturday night in Washington.
