Confuseyus

For the next stop on the 2010 UFC World Tour, it’s off to the Middle East for the first time as UFC makes it’s debut in Abu Dhabi this Saturday afternoon. And it’ll be a loaded card with both Lightweight & Middleweight Title fights scheduled and the debut of another Gracie in the Octagon. Click below for predictions for the event as our resident prognosticator tries to keep a recent slump-busting hot streak going.

Usual disclaimer: As always, these picks are strictly for entertainment purposes only and should not be used as the basis for any real-life betting/wagering. A “NC” in a fighter’s record indicates No Contest. All fighter rankings are based on the latest MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings.

Main card airs in US on PPV. It will air LIVE at 1 PM ET with a replay in the usual 10 PM ET timeslot.

Prelims (may not air on PPV):
Jon Madsen vs. Mustapha al-Turk
Records: Madseon 4-0, al-Turk 6-5
Prediction: Madsen by unanimous/majority decision.

Matt Veach vs. Paul Kelly
Records: Veach 11-1, Kelly 9-2
Prediction: Kelly by unanimous/majority decision.

Damarques Johnson vs. Brad Blackburn
Records: Johnson 10-7, Blackburn 15-10-1
Prediction: Blackburn by unanimous/majority decision.

Nick Osipczak vs. Rick Story
Records: Osipczak 5-0, Story 9-3
Prediction: Osipczak by unanimous/majority decision.

Paul Taylor vs. John Gunderson
Records: Taylor Taylor 10-5-1, Gunderson 22-7
Prediction: Gunderson by 2nd round submission/tapout.

Phil Davis vs. Alexander Gustafsson
Records: Davis 5-0, Gustafsson 9-0
Prediction: SHOCKER SPECIAL! Gustafsson by 1st round KO/TKO.

PPV:
Mark Munoz vs. Kendall Grove
Records: Munoz 7-1, Grove 11-6
Prediction: Grove by unanimous/majority decision.

Terry Etim vs. Rafael Dos Anjos
Records: Etim 14-2, Dos Anjos 13-4
Prediction: Etim by split decision.

Matt Hughes vs. Renzo Gracie
Records: Hughes 43-7, Gracie 13-6-1
Hughes is the #5 Welterweight in the World.
Prediction: Hughes by unanimous/majority decision.

UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn vs. Frank Edgar for the title
Records: Penn 15-5-1, Edgar 11-1
Prediction: Penn by 4th round submission/tapout.

Main Event: UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia for the title
Records: Silva 25-4, Maia 12-1
Silva is the #1 Middleweight in the World. Maia is the #7 Middleweight in the World.
This was to have been Silva vs. Vitor Belfort for the title, but Belfort is off due to a shoulder injury. Belfort is likely out another 4-6 months.
Prediction: Silva by unanimous/majority decision.

I originally planned to get the PPV live, but it falls on the day of a major event that I try to get to every year and with the time difference, I almost certainly will miss the live show so I won’t be doing live results. Not sure if I’ll try and get the replay in the usual PPV timeslot but I probably will not (I’ll be really tired from a long day and there’s NASCAR).
