Confuseyus: UFC 110 Predictions (Updated)

Posted by representingpuroresu on 02/16/2010

G’day from down under, mates! UFC’s 2010 World Tour kicks off this weekend with it’s first trip do the land down under-Australia-for UFC 110 from Sydney. While there are no title matches it’s still a solid card headlined by Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Wanderlei Silva vs. Michael Bisping and plenty of Aussies on the card including, at long last, the return of The King-Elvis. Uh huh…thank you, thank you very much. Click below for my predictions and start throwing some shrimp on the barbie for the weekend. (Updated 2/18)

Usual disclaimer: As always, these predictions are strictly for entertainment purposes only and should not be used as the basis for any real-life betting/wagering. A “NC” in a fighter’s record indicates No Contest. All fighter rankings are based on the latest MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings.

Main card airs live on PPV. No TV fights on Spike this time. Because of the time differences, the event will take place in Australia and the PPV portion will start at 4 PM Sydney time on Sunday, 2/21, while in the US the live broadcast with the difference will air Saturday night, 2/20, at 10 PM ET, the usual Saturday night PPV timeslot. Depending on where you are in the lower 48, Australia is 15-18 hours ahead of you.

Prelims (may not air on PPV):
Igor Pokrajac vs. James Te Huna
Records: 21-6, Te Huna 11-4
Prediction: Pokrajac by 2nd round submission/tapout.

CB Dollaway vs. Goran Reijic
Records: Dollaway 9-2, Reijic 8-0
Prediction: Reijic by 2nd round submission/tapout.

Brian Foster vs. Chris Lytle
Records: Foster 13-4, Lytle 27-17-5
Prediction: Foster by 2nd round KO/TKO.

Stephan Bonnar vs. Krzysztof Soszynski
Records: Bonnar 11-6, Soszynski 18-9-1
Prediction: Soszynski by unanimous/majority decison.

Elvis Sinosic vs. Chris Haseman
Records: Sinosic 8-11-2, Haseman 20-16
Prediction: Sinosic by unanimous/majority decision.
2/18 UPDATE: This fight is now off. Sinosic is off due to a shoulder injury. They won’t get a replacement for Haseman.

Mirko Cro Cop vs. Anthony Perosh
Records: Cro Cop 25-7-2, 10-5
This was to have been Cro Cop vs. Ben Rothwell, but Rothwell is now off as of 2/18 due to illness. Perosh is the last-minute replacement.
Prediction: Cro Cop by unanimous/majority decision.

Ryan Bader vs. Keith Jardine
Records: Bader 10-0, Jardine 15-6-1
Prediction: Bader by unanimous/majority decision.

George Sotiropoulos vs. Joe Stevenson
Records: Sotiropoulos 11-2, Stevenson 31-10
Prediction: SHOCKER SPECIAL! Sotiropoulos by 3rd round submission/tapout.

Wanderlei Silva vs. Michael Bisping
Records: Silva 32-10-1, Bisping 18-2
Prediction: Silva by 2nd round KO/TKO.

Main Event: Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Records: Velasquez 7-0, Nogueira 32-5-1
Velasquez is the #5 Heavyweight in the World. Nogueira is the #4 Heavyweight in the World.
Prediction: SHOCKER SPECIAL #2! Velasquez by split decision.

I haven’t decided yet if I’ll buy this PPV and thus do live results Saturday night. Need to see how the money looks after I go out Friday night, but I am leaning towards getting it then or Saturday morning. The PPV fights (especially the headliners) are good enough to warrant it. Actually, with the 2/18 changes, they unfortunately have changed my decision from probably to no.
