Confuseyus: UFC Fight Night 20 Predictions

Posted by representingpuroresu on 01/07/2010

Confuseyus

For it’s latest foray into a new market, UFC is headed to Confuseyus’ own backyard-the Washington, DC area, for it’s next event-UFC Fight Night 20 this Monday at George Mason University in Vienna, VA, just a few miles west of DC (no, regrettably Confuseyus will not be there this time). But UFC is bringing a good-looking card of 11 fights with a main event that, if it goes the right way, could determine the next challenger for UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn. I’m disappointed I can’t make this event in person (if it hadn’t been for major health issues and a car accident back in October that required me to get a new car I can GUARANTEE you I would’ve been there) but hopefully it’ll be a great show and UFC will be back before too long. In the meantime, have a look at the card.

Usual disclaimer: As always, these picks are strictly for entertainment purposes only and should not be used as the basis for any real-life betting/wagering. A “NC” in a fighter’s record indicates No Contest. All fighter rankings are based on the latest MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings.

Main card airs live on Spike.

Prelims (may not air on TV):
Nick Catone vs. Jesse Forbes
Records: Catone 6-2, Forbes 11-3
Prediction: Forbes by 2nd round submission/tapout.

Gerald Harris vs. John Salter
Records: Harris 13-2, Salter 4-0
This was to have been Harris vs. Mike Massenzio, but Massenzio is now off as of 1/7 for undisclosed reasons. Salter is the almost-last-minute replacement.
Prediction: Harris by 1st round KO/TKO.

Kyle Bradley vs. Rafael Dos Anjos
Records: Bradley 14-6, Dos Anjos 12-4
Prediction: Bradley by 1st round KO/TKO.

Mike Guymon vs. Rory MacDonald
Records: Guymon 10-2-1, MacDonald 9-0
Prediction: MacDonald by split decision.

Nik Lentz vs. Thiago Tavares
Records: Lentz 17-3-1, Tavares 14-3
Prediction: Lentz by unanimous/majority decision.

Jesse Lennox vs. Rick Story
Records: Lennox 11-1, Story 8-3
Prediction: Lennox by 2nd round KO/TKO.

Chris Leben vs. Jay Silva
Records: Leben 18-7, Silva 5-2
Prediction: SHOCKER SPECIAL! Silva by 2nd round KO/TKO.

TV fights (airing on Spike):
Amir Sadollah vs. Brad Blackburn
Records; Sadollah 2-1, Blackburn 15-9-1
Prediction: Blackburn by 1st round KO/TKO.

Aaron Simpson vs. Tom Lawlor
Records: Simpson 6-0, Lawlor 6-1
Prediction: Simpson by 1st round KO/TKO.

Efrain Escudero vs. Evan Dunham
Records: Escudero 12-0, Dunham 9-0
Prediction: Escudero by unanimous/majority decision.

Main Event: Nate Diaz vs. Gray Maynard
Records: Diaz 11-4, Maynard 8-0
Maynard is the #9 Lightweight in the World.
Prediction: Maynard by unanimous/majority decision.
Maynard could get UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn for the title in April with a win, but there are rumors that, even if Maynard wins, Frank Edgar is next.
