Prelims:
Evan Dunham beat Marcus Aurelio by split decision, 29-28 Dunham, 29-28 Aurelio, 30-27 Dunham.
Mark Munoz beat Nick Catone by split decision, 29-28 Catone, 30-27 Munoz, 29-28 Munoz.
Todd Duffee beat Tim Hague by KO in 7 seconds.
Mike Russow beat Justin McCully by unanimous decision, 30-26, 30-27, 29-28.
Gabriel Gonzaga beat Chris Tuchscherer by TKO (strikes) at 4:27 of round 1.
Aaron Simpson beat Ed Herman by TKO (injury stoppage) at 17 seconds of round 2. Left knee injury.
PPV:
Brandon Vera beat Krzyzstof Soszynski by unanimous decision, 3 30-27s.
Nate Marquardt beat Demian Maia by KO in 21 seconds.
Jake Rosholt beat Chris Leben by technical submission (arm triangle) at 1:30 of round 3.
Thiago Silva beat Keith Jardine by KO at 1:35 of round 1.
Main Event: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira beat Randy Couture by unanimous decision, 2 30-27s and 1 29-28.

Fantasy record: 3-8. Well, everyone’s gotta have an off night now & then…the last 2 fights did prevent a 1-10 disaster, at least.

The usual post-fight stuff:
Randy Couture signed a 6-fight, 28-month extension with UFC before the event. So he plans on fighting until he’s close to 50. Well, never a good idea to bet against him, although I did last night.

The Bonus Of The Night winners, each gets $60K:
Fight-Nogueira vs. Couture
KO-Marquardt
Sub-Rosholt
Although Todd Duffee didn’t get KOTN, his 7-second KO of Tim Hague is a UFC record for fastest ever.

Attendance: They claimed 16,088 paid for a live gate of $1.92 million. Had Dana incredibly psyched, he would’ve been happy with 10,000 given the unemployment rate in the area is 12%.

Ed Soares, Anderson Silva’s manager, says make Marquardt-Hendo next to see who will next fight Silva for the title. Soares says Silva wants to take a little break. (Worth noting he’s got 3 fights left)

Next up: UFN 19 on September 16. If I have digital TV equipment by then (seems Concast is doing whatever it can to force me to upgrade from basic cable to digital) I’ll do live results, otherwise I won’t be able to watch. It’s kinda ridiculous, but that’s for another time, another post. Then it’s UFC 103 3 days later. Undecided on buying the PPV, but despite the interesting card I’m leaning slightly towards not buying it.
