Confuseyus: UFC 102 Quick Predictions
Posted by representingpuroresu on 08/24/2009
The summer of firsts continues this weekend for UFC, this time it’s the promotion’s first trip to the Northwest for UFC 102 at Rose Garden in Portland, OR. The headlining match is another first-a better-late-than-never dream match between former champions Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, with the winner getting one step closer to perhaps getting the title back. The undercard also features fights that could determine #1 contenders for the Light Heavyweight and Middleweight Titles.
Because I waited longer than usual to do this, plus I am currently on MMA sabbatical (Confuseyus spend too much money on MMA, among other things) among other things, this time I’m only doing quick predictions. Here they are…
Usual disclaimer: As always, these picks are strictly for entertainment purposes only and should not be used as the basis for any real-life betting/wagering. A “NC” in a fighter’s record indicates No Contest. All fighter rankings are based on the latest MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings.
Main card airs live on PPV.

Records: Marquardt 28-8-2, Maia 10-0
Marquardt is the #3 Middleweight in the World. Maia is the #10 Middleweight in the World.

Note: The winner here should be either next in line for a UFC Middleweight Title shot or be 2nd in line after Dan Henderson.

Prediction: Leben by 2nd round KO/TKO.
Keith Jardine vs. Thiago Silva
Records: Jardine 14-5-1, Silva 13-1

Prediction: Silva by 3rd round KO/TKO.
Main Event: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Randy Couture

Nogueira is the #5 Heavyweight in the World. Couture is the #6 Heavyweight in the World.
Prediction: Nogueira by split decision.
As noted at the start, my hiatus/sabbatical means no live results this Saturday night. Excluding next month’s UFN, I won’t be doing those again until probably UFC 104 in October.
