The funny stuff I was thinking about just now looking around the net suddenly got a little less funny. I just stumbled across the breaking news that the great comedian Dom DeLuise has died. He was 75. Reports are he died peacefully in his sleep last night. Dom was best known for his movie collaborations with Burt Reynolds and, in movies I remember and still enjoy, his work with the master of the movie spoof-Mel Brooks. My other best memory of him was from childhood in the ’80s, where he often could be seen pitching Ziploc storage bags on TV commercials as well as hosting “Candid Camera”, plus doing voicework and appearances in several children’s & family films. He even authored several cookbooks. Above all he was a big guy who always gave us big laughs and seemed to enjoy making people laugh, I certainly was one of them.
Ciao, Dom, we’ll miss you. Thanks for the many laughs over the years.
